Abstract

A method of operating a tumbling mill, the method comprising: monitoring a toe position of a first portion of material inside the mill, said toe position determined responsive to signals measured from a vibration sensor; determining a measure of a discharge property corresponding to a second portion of material discharged from the mill; receiving an input corresponding to a desired discharge property of discharge material; and determining an operation parameter of the mill based on the determined toe position, and the received desired discharge property, and a predetermined correlation between toe position and discharge property.
