Abstract

ABSTRACT The present invention offers a system and process for biometric MFA with blockchain applied to guarantee high data reliability and authentication. Another great advantage of the system is that it uses multiple tiers of security where the first tier is to scan and analyze the biometrics data such as fingerprint, facial recognition or even the iris scan in order to authenticate the user. This biometric information is then utilised for processing and to ensure the information is safe does not allow any tempering or outside interference the information is saved on a distributed blockchain. Furthermore, besides biometric verification to provide identification, the invention uses blockchain in order to apply safely an immutable database to the scenario and improve the authentication's general robustness. Every attempt at authentication is documented on the blockchain and it keeps an unalterable record of access in a distributed manner. The integration of biometric data and the blockcliain system guarantees that the process is both secure and transparent so as to prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and data theft. The system also provides for how the cryptographic hashing will be done, keying management and the communication ·protocols that will be used while transmitting authentication data over the networks. The invention can be used in a wide range of fields such as finance, health-care, and in secure authorized access to necessary governmental systems of security for protection of systems which contain sensitive data. The usage of blockchain also guarantees that in case one factor of authentication has been threatened, the other factors will still hold, hence providing a full solution to MFA, and data validation.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION UTILIZING BIOMETRIC
VERIFICATION AND BLOCKCHAIN FOR DATA INTEGRITY ASSURANCE
PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRPTION
I. Field of Invention
Specifically, the present invention targets the field of secured ways of confirming the identity of a
user with the use of multi-factor authentication MFA. It com hines biometric identification processes
with a blockchain feature to enhance the identification process for its users while at the same time
offering users a secure method through which they can ensure the integrity of their data. The invention
can be successfully implemented in different fields where there is a need for protection of the
information: financial, healthcare and government services.
2. Background of the Invention
As more and more organizations need reliable security measures, methods of user authentication like
passwords and tokens fail to address the problem because of factors like data leak, phishing, and
identity theft. Two-factor authentication (2FA) may provide greater security since it involves two or
more pieces of information to be used as identifiers or tokens. However, the present MFA systems
employ centralized databases to store and match the two factors; the design is prone to DDoS attacks
because of its single points of failure.
Fingerprints or a facial recognition system provide a very reliable way of confirming user identity
but the biggest issue is the privacy and protection of stored biometric data. Due to the requirements
of having a secure storage solution to keep the data used for client authentication safe, blockchain
has been integrated since it makes it impossible to alter information incorporated in the system by
employing cryptographic means.
In this regard, this invention seeks to remove the shortcomings that characterize current MFA
systems by combining biometric verification with blockchain technology so that the process of
authenticating a person is secure and cannot be altered or hacked.
3. Summary of the Invention
It is pertinent to mention that the present invention pertains to a system and method for multi-factor
authentication incorporating biometric identification along with blockchain to synthesize the security
and data. This involves the acquiring of the biometric data from the user inclusive of fingerprints,
facial or eye scan. Once the user's identity is established, this biometric data is saved in a
decentralized blockchain that makes the data downloaded permanent and shielded from any
manipulation.
All of the authentication attempts in the system are stored permanently and in a tamper-proof manner
on the blockchain, thereby maintaining a transparent record of the activity and its history which can
be easily audited by anyone given proper authorization. This approach provides two layers of
security: biometric to be used in authenticating user while blockchain for assuring data ·is secured
from malicious alteration. The system is compatible and meant to operate on other interfaces where
such services can easily be applied across arrays of industries inclusive of the banking sector, health
care, and the government.

I COMPLETE SPECIFICATION I
Specifications
System Components
I. Biometric Input Device: A device like fingerprint scan, facial identification or iris scan that is used
to capture ones biometric data.
2. Biometric Verification Module: Programs that hold the responsibility to process the captured
biometric data and match them with other data that were stored earlier.
3. Blockchain Ledger: A decentralized and distributed ledger where every attempt to authenticate
user is stored in a way that cannot be changed reducing the probabilities of fraudsters compromising
the system.
4. Cryptographic Hashing Module: This can humbly be said to be done while this module safely
hashes biometric data and stores it in the blockchain to avoid its manipulation.
5. Communication Protocols: Encrypted means through which individuals, servers, as well as the
blockchain network, can request for authentication.
6. Authentication Management System: A back-end system that deals in maintaining identities of
the users, keys, and authorizations where only permitted individuals can access specific resources.

DESCRIPTION
Method of Operation'
l. Biometric Capture: The user provides his or her biometric data, such as fingerprint, through an
input device.
2. Verification: The system then match the biometric data obtained with the one stored in the
blockchain database.
3. Blockchain Integration: After successful verification of persons record in the system, the biometric
data is hashed and stored in the block chain. The time and method of each authentication attempt
recorded on each user's blockchain account for anticorruption and airtight record keeping as a
transaction.
4. Access Control: The system simply approves or disapproves the request depending on the outcome
of the biometric verification and the authenticity of the data s stored in block chain.
