Abstract
The present invention was designed to investigate comparative efficacy of various wound healing ointment (F1 to F9) with Chrysin and Piperine ointment and marketed formulations (Soframycin) using excision wound models in normal rats. In the present work, ointment formulations were prepared using Chrysin and Piperine by fusion technique. Using Chrysin and Piperine ointment formulation was compared with Soframycin standard Ointment for contraction of wound healing in rats and physicochemical parameters Viscosity, pH, spread ability, and % of CDR. Wistar albino rats of either sex weighing between 180 and 220 g were topically treated with Chrysin and Piperine formulated in ointment using simple ointment BP as base. Ointments, 4% (w/w), were applied once daily in excision wound model. Rats of standard groups were treated with 1% Soframycin ointment topically. The percentage wound contraction content was measured., epithelization time in excision wound model. Topical application of Chrysin and Piperine ointment formulation in excision wound model increased the percentage of wound contraction, and the epithelization time was decreased. Conclusively, the data of present study indicated that the Chrysin and Piperine ointment formulation accelerated wound healing in rats and thus supports its traditional use. WHC [Formulation No. 4 (F-4)] showed significantly better wound healing activity than standard ointment, other various WHCs, Soframycin ointment. F-4 also showed complete epithelization and good collagen deposition as compared to standard ointment, other various WHCs, Soframycin ointment. F-4 showed statistically significant better wound healing activity in excision wound modal compared to standard ointment, other various WHCs Soframycin ointment.
