Abstract

ABSTRACT “SOUND PROCESSING APPARATUS” The present technology relates to a sound processing apparatus and a method of performing gain adjustment on sounds output from speakers. The sound processing apparatus comprises a speaker selecting unit for selecting four speakers, virtual speaker position determining circuitry for determining a position of a virtual speaker based on positions of the four speakers, virtual speaker gain calculating circuitry for calculating a gain of the virtual speaker by performing three-dimensional Vector Base Amplitude Panning (VBAP) based on a positional relationship among the virtual speaker, two speakers of the four speakers, and a sound image localization position, and gain adjusting circuitry for performing gain adjustment on sounds to be output from at least the two speakers based on the gain of the virtual speaker. The four speakers are configured to output sounds to a listener according to output of the gain adjusting circuitry. Fig. 1

Specification

Description: as enclosed , Claims: WE CLAIM

1. A sound processing apparatus comprising:
a speaker selecting unit configured to select four speakers;
virtual speaker position determining circuitry configured to determine a position of a virtual speaker based on positions of the four speakers;
virtual speaker gain calculating circuitry configured to calculate a gain of the virtual speaker by performing three-dimensional Vector Base Amplitude Panning (VBAP) based on a positional relationship among the virtual speaker, two speakers of the four speakers, and a sound image localization position; and
gain adjusting circuitry configured to perform gain adjustment on sounds to be output from at least the two speakers based on the gain of the virtual speaker, wherein the four speakers are configured to output sounds to a listener according to output of the gain adjusting circuitry.

2. A method of performing gain adjustment on sounds output from speakers, the method comprising:
selecting four speakers;
determining a position of a virtual speaker based on positions of the four speakers;
calculating a gain of the virtual speaker by performing three-dimensional Vector Base Amplitude Panning (VBAP) based on a positional relationship among the virtual speaker, two speakers of the four speakers, and a sound image localization position; and
performing gain adjustment on sounds to be output from at least the two speakers based on the gain of the virtual speaker, wherein the four speakers are configured to output sounds to a listener.

3. A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored thereon instructions that, when executed by a computer, perform a method, the method comprising:
receiving a selection of four speakers;
determining a position of a virtual speaker based on positions of the four speakers;
calculating a gain of the virtual speaker by performing three-dimensional Vector Base Amplitude Panning (VBAP) based on a positional relationship among the virtual speaker, two speakers of the four speakers, and a sound image localization position; and
performing gain adjustment on sounds to be output from at least the two speakers based on the gain of the virtual speaker, wherein the four speakers are configured to output sounds to a listener.
