Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a multifunctional periodontal scaling apparatus that is capable of providing a means for engaging various types of detachable scaling tip such as a surface scaler tip, an interdental scaler tip, a morse scaler tip and a cumin scaler tip as per the requirement of a dental practitioner for performing periodontal care, thus ensuring optimal oral hygiene of patients.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The need for effective periodontal care has grown significantly due to increasing awareness of oral health and hygiene. Dental practitioners face the challenge of efficiently managing various scaling tasks to maintain optimal dental health for their patients. Traditional scaling methods often involve the use of multiple instruments, which can be cumbersome and time-consuming. This not only impacts the efficiency of dental procedures but may also affect the overall patient experience.

[0003] Current periodontal scaling devices lack the versatility to accommodate different types of scaling tips designed for specific tasks, such as cleaning tooth surfaces, interproximal areas, and specialized scaling applications. As a result, practitioners often find themselves switching between several tools, leading to increased procedure times and potential discomfort for both the dental professional and the patient. Moreover, maintaining hygiene standards is crucial in dental practices, as improper sterilization can lead to infections and other complications. Therefore, there is need for an apparatus that integrates various detachable tips into a single device, enabling seamless transitions between tasks while ensuring compliance with sterilization protocols. This invention aims to address these challenges by providing a comprehensive solution that enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of periodontal scaling procedures.

[0004] US4708647A discloses about a periodontal probe instrument for measuring the depth of the gingival sulcus and periodontal pockets. A probe extending from a handle of the instrument includes a transparent portion which is insertable into the periodontal pocket. An optical fiber extends through the probe and may be retracted until its end is barely visible at the gingival line. A potentiometer driven by the retraction mechanism for the fiber generates an electrical output signal having a voltage proportional to the position of the fiber to provide a measure of the pocket depth. The signal is used to digitally display and print each measurement that is taken. Although, US'647 provides a periodontal probe instrument specifically designed for measuring the depth of the gingival sulcus and periodontal pockets, however the instrument fails to integrate various detachable scaling tips for a wide range of periodontal scaling tasks and so the dental practitioners must rely on multiple tools to perform different scaling functions, resulting in inefficiencies and potential delays during procedures.

[0005] US20220346922A1 discloses about a periodontal instrument comprises an end including a functional shank and a working end located distal to the functional shank, and a handle configured to extend proximally from the end, the handle sized and configured to be received by a user's hand. The functional shank may include a colored portion, and the colored portion may define a terminal shank of the functional shank. In some embodiments, the colored portion is configured to aid the user in identifying the terminal shank. Though, US'922 provides a periodontal instrument, however the instrument fails to integrate various detachable scaling tips for a wide range of periodontal scaling tasks and so the dental practitioners rely on multiple tools to perform different scaling functions, resulting in inefficiencies and potential delays during procedures.

[0006] Conventionally, many apparatus have been developed for periodontal care, however, these existing devices lack the multifunctionality needed to accommodate various scaling requirements within a single instrument. This results in dental practitioners relying on a range of tools for different procedures, leading to increased complexity, inefficiency, and time consumption during treatments. Furthermore, traditional instruments do not adhere to modern hygiene standards, posing risks of cross-contamination and infection.

[0007] In order to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks, there exists a need in the art to develop an apparatus that requires to integrate various detachable scaling tips for diverse periodontal tasks. Additionally, the developed apparatus also needs to enable practitioners to easily switch between tips dedicated for specific functions, thereby streamlining dental procedures and enhancing patient care.
