Abstract

ABSTRACT A method (100) for treating wastewater using a nanocomposite material. Further, the method comprising synthesizing a nanocomposite by combining a layered double hydroxide (LDH) of iron (Fe) and copper (Cu) with biochar derived from sugarcane bagasse. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of producing the biochar through pyrolysis of sugarcane bagasse at temperatures of 400°C to 800°C. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of preparing the LDH using a co-precipitation method followed by hydrothermal treatment. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of introducing the nanocomposite into wastewater to adsorb and degrade pollutants, including dyes and heavy metals. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of recycling the nanocomposite for multiple treatment cycles while maintaining its functionality. <>

Specification

Description:FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to the field of wastewater treatment and, in particular, to a method for utilizing nanocomposite materials derived from renewable resources to effectively adsorb and degrade pollutants in wastewater, thereby minimizing the environmental impact of industrial effluents.
BACKGROUND
[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] The increasing pollution of water bodies due to industrial discharges and agricultural runoff poses significant environmental challenge , Claims:1. A method (100) for treating wastewater using a nanocomposite material, the method comprising the steps of:
synthesizing a nanocomposite by combining a layered double hydroxide (LDH) of iron (Fe) and copper (Cu) with biochar derived from sugarcane bagasse;
producing the biochar through pyrolysis of sugarcane bagasse at temperatures of 400°C to 800°C;
preparing the LDH using a co-precipitation method followed by hydrothermal treatment;
introducing the nanocomposite into wastewater to adsorb and degrade pollutants, including dyes and heavy metals; and
recycling the nanocomposite for multiple treatment cycles while maintaining its functionality.

2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the nanocomposite achieves a degradation efficiency of at least 90% for rhodamine B dye at an optimal dosage of 2 g/L and a pH of 7.0.
