Abstract
ABSTRACT A method (100) for synthesizing luminescent nitrogen-doped carbon dots using starch and citric acid as precursors. Further, the method comprising preparing a 5% starch solution by dissolving starch polysaccharide in deionized water and heating the mixture at 70°C for 15 minutes. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of subjecting the starch solution to acid hydrolysis by adding hydrochloric acid, followed by neutralization with sodium hydroxide, and confirming hydrolysis through iodine and Benedict’s tests. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of mixing the resulting reducing sugar solution with citric acid and urea, followed by microwave-assisted synthesis at 700W for 10 minutes to form carbon dots. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of isolating the synthesized carbon dots through filtration, drying, and characterizing their luminescent properties using fluoresce

Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] The rapid advancement of nanotechnology h , Claims:WE CLAIM:
1. A method (100) for synthesizing luminescent nitrogen-doped carbon dots using starch and citric acid as precursors, the method comprising the steps of:
preparing a 5% starch solution by dissolving starch polysaccharide in deionized water and heating the mixture at 70°C for 15 minutes;
subjecting the starch solution to acid hydrolysis by adding hydrochloric acid, followed by neutralization with sodium hydroxide, and confirming hydrolysis through iodine and Benedict's tests;
mixing the resulting reducing sugar solution with citric acid and urea, followed by microwave-assisted synthesis at 700W for 10 minutes to form carbon dots; and
isolating the synthesized carbon dots through filtration, drying, and characterizing their luminescent properties using fluorescence spectroscopy.
2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the carbon dots exhibit enhanced photoluminescence properties due to the incorporation of nitrogen dopants during the synthesis process.
