Specification

Description:FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to methods for synthesizing and applying nanocomposite materials, specifically cadmium sulphide (CdS) quantum dots combined with biochar, for the catalytic degradation and removal of pharmaceutical contaminants in wastewater.
BACKGROUND

[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] With the global increase in population, there is an urgent need to address water scarcity and contamination. Pharmaceutical contaminants, like paracetamol, are commonly found in , Claims:WE CLAIM:
1. A method 100 for synthesizing cadmium sulphide and biochar nanocomposite, comprising:
synthesizing cadmium sulphide (CdS) quantum dots using cadmium chloride, thiourea, and polyvinyl alcohol as a stabilizer;
doping the cadmium sulphide (CdS) quantum dots with cobalt acetate; and
integrating the doped cadmium sulphide (CdS) quantum dots with biochar to enhance catalytic degradation of pharmaceutical pollutants.

2. The method 100 as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cadmium sulphide (CdS) quantum dots are synthesized through a sol-gel process involving cadmium chloride and thio-urea in an ethanol solution.

3. The method 100 as claimed in claim 1, wherein the doped cadmium sulphide (CdS) quantum dots with cobalt acetate provide enhanced optical and catalytic stability, making them suitable for pollutant degradation applications.
