Abstract

ABSTRACT A method (100) for static structural analysis of the human knee joint, comprising the steps of: creating, via a processor, a 3d model of the tibia, patella, and femur bones using creo parametric software; convertingthe 3d model into an IGES format; importing the IGES file into ANSYS interface for analysis; generating a mesh by dividing the model into small elements; defining different material properties for the bones to analyze the effects under static loading conditions; setting up boundary conditions by applying constraints and loads to evaluate contact behavior under various loading scenarios; selecting and configuring a suitable solver within ANSYS for static structural analysis; running the solver to obtain results including stress, strain, and deformation; utilizing ANSYS post-processing tools to interpret and analyze the results to understand the behavior of the knee joint under different conditions.

[0001] This invention generally relates to the field of biomechanical engineering and computer-aided design, and more specifically, to a method for conducting static structural analysis of the human knee joint using advanced modeling and simulation techniques.
BACKGROUND

[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] Traditional methods of analyzing the structural integrity of human knee joints often rely on simplified models and manual calculations, which may not accurately represent the complex , Claims:1. A method (100) for static structural analysis of the human knee joint, comprising the steps of:
creating, via a processor, a 3d model of the tibia, patella, and femur bones using creo parametric software;
converting, via the processor, the 3d model into an IGES format;
importing, via the processor, the IGES file into ANSYS interface for analysis;
generating, via the processor, a mesh by dividing the model into small elements, wherein the meshing process involves creating a free mesh with tetrahedral elements;
defining, via the processor, different material properties for the bones to analyze the effects under static loading conditions;
setting up, via the processor, boundary conditions by applying constraints and loads to evaluate contact behavior under various loading scenarios;
selecting and configuring, via the processor, a suitable solver within ANSYS for static structural analysis;
