Abstract

ABSTRACT A method for reducing heavy metal concentration in a biological environment, the method (100) comprising the steps of introducing a lactic acid bacteria (LAB) composition into the biological environment, proliferating plurality of LAB cells in the LAB composition using a growth-supporting medium to obtain an LAB culture and promoting absorption of of heavy metals to the plurality of LAB cells of the LAB culture, wherein the absorption of heavy metals reduces the concentration of heavy metals within the biological environment.

Specification

Description:FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to a field of heavy metals and in particular relates to a method for reducing heavy metal concentration in a biological environment.
BACKGROUND

[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] Traditionally, heavy metal contamination in biological environments, including soil, water, and even human or animal systems, has been addressed using various chemical and physical methods. Common approaches for reducing heavy metal concentrations involve chemical treat , Claims:1. A method (100) for reducing heavy metal concentration in a biological environment, the method (100) comprising the steps of:
introducing a lactic acid bacteria (LAB) composition into the biological environment;
proliferating plurality of LAB cells in the LAB composition using a growth-supporting medium to obtain a LAB culture; and
promoting absorption of of heavy metals to the plurality of LAB cells of the LAB culture, wherein the absorption of heavy metals reduces the concentration of heavy metals within the biological environment.

2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, further comprising pre-treating the LAB composition using acid or heat.
