Abstract

ABSTRACT A method (100) for providing legal advisory services. Further, the method comprising receiving a textual description of a crime incident as input data. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of pre-processing the input data to remove stop words, punctuation, and redundant terms, and converting the text into a standardized format. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of generating word embeddings from the pre-processed text using a FastText model to create numerical vector representations of the words. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of training a machine learning model using the generated word embeddings to classify the input data into one or more relevant IPC sections. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of outputting the predicted IPC section(s) corresponding to the input textual description. <>

Specification

Description:FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to the field of legal technology and, in particular, relates to a method for predicting applicable sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on textual descriptions of crime incidents using machine learning techniques to enhance legal efficiency and accessibility.
BACKGROUND
[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] The increasing complexity of legal frameworks and the growing volume of crime-related data present significant challenges for legal pro , Claims:1. A method (100) for providing legal advisory services, the method comprising the steps of:
receiving a textual description of a crime incident as input data;
pre-processing the input data to remove stop words, punctuation, and redundant terms, and converting the text into a standardized format;
generating word embeddings from the pre-processed text using a FastText model to create numerical vector representations of the words;
training a machine learning model using the generated word embeddings to classify the input data into one or more relevant IPC sections; and
outputting the predicted IPC section(s) corresponding to the input textual description.

2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the pre-processing of the input data further includes tokenization, stemming, and removal of stop words and punctuation.
