Abstract

ABSTRACT A method (100) for propagating an elliptical laser beam through an optical fibre, the method (100) comprising the steps of transmitting the laser beam into an optical fibre with a graded index profile configured to vary the refractive index radially, inducing a non-linear refractive index change along the propagation path of the optical fibre in response to the intensity distribution of the laser beam, enabling self-focusing, self-modulation, and stable propagation of the laser beam within the optical fibre and allowing phase and width of the laser bean to undergo quasi-periodic oscillations along the length of the optical fibre. <>

Specification

Description:FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to a field of elliptical laser beam and in particular relates to a method for propagating an elliptical laser beam through an optical fibre.
BACKGROUND
[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] One challenge in high-power optical transmission is the natural tendency of intense light beams to diverge or undergo diffraction, leading to a loss of laser beam focus and reduced efficiency. Furthermore, linear fibers are limited in their ability to manage and , Claims:1. A method (100) for propagating an elliptical laser beam through an optical fibre, the method (100) comprising the steps of:
transmitting the laser beam into an optical fibre with a graded index profile configured to vary the refractive index radially;
inducing a non-linear refractive index change along the propagation path of the optical fibre in response to the intensity distribution of the laser beam;
enabling self-focusing, self-modulation, and stable propagation of the laser beam within the optical fibre; and
allowing phase and width of the laser bean to undergo quasi-periodic oscillations along length of the optical fibre.

2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the non-linear refractive index is achieved through a Kerr effect, which is influenced by the variation in the radial inhomogeneity factor (G) and higher-order susceptibility parameters, enhancing axial phase stability of the laser beam and reducing divergence during transmission.
