Abstract

ABSTRACT A method (100) for producing secondary metabolites of Coleus forskohlii, the method (100) comprising the steps of preparing a suspension culture of Coleus forskohlii explants in a sterilized Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium, synthesizing zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles using neem leaf extract as a stabilizing agent, introducing the synthesized ZnO nanoparticles at varying concentrations into the MS medium containing the suspension culture of Coleus forskohlii and incubating the suspension culture of Coleus forskohlii under controlled photoperiod and temperature conditions, to produce secondary metabolites.

Specification

Description:FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to a field of secondary metabolites and in particular relates to a method for producing secondary metabolites of Coleus forskohlii.
BACKGROUND

[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] With increasing interest in natural health supplements, Coleus forskohlii, a medicinal plant known for producing forskolin, has garnered significant attention. Forskolin, a bioactive secondary metabolite extracted from Coleus forskohlii, is widely recognized for its ther , Claims:WE CLAIM:
1. A method (100) for producing secondary metabolites of Coleus forskohlii, the method (100) comprising the steps of:
preparing a suspension culture of Coleus forskohlii explants in a sterilized Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium;
synthesizing zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles using neem leaf extract as a stabilizing agent;
introducing the synthesized ZnO nanoparticles at varying concentrations into the MS medium containing the suspension culture of Coleus forskohlii; and
incubating the suspension culture of Coleus forskohlii under controlled photoperiod and temperature conditions, to produce secondary metabolites.

2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the concentration of ZnO nanoparticles in the MS medium is selected from the range of 30µg/l - 90 µg/l.
