Abstract
ABSTRACT
A method (100) for producing a biodegradable utensil, the method (100) comprising the steps of preparing a nutrient substrate from lignocellulosic agricultural waste, inoculating the nutrient substrate with mushroom mycelium to obtain a mycelium-infused substrate, moulding the mycelium-infused substrate into a utensil shaped mould to obtain a moulded substrate, incubating the moulded substrate to promote growth of the mushroom mycelium and drying the moulded substrate at a temperature in the range of 70 – 80 degree Celsius to arrest growth of the mushroom mycelium and obtain a biodegradable utensil

Specification
Description:
FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to a field of toxic dyes and in particular relates to a method for biotreatment of toxic dyes.
BACKGROUND
[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] The excessive use of plastic cutlery and utensils has led to a significant accumulation of non-biodegradable waste, posing a considerable environmental threat. Single-use plastic utensils contribute heavily to global pollution, requiring hundreds of years to degrade naturally, and often leaching harmful ch , Claims:1. A method (100) for producing a biodegradable utensil, the method (100) comprising the steps of:
preparing a nutrient substrate from lignocellulosic agricultural waste;
inoculating the nutrient substrate with mushroom mycelium to obtain a mycelium-infused substrate;
moulding the mycelium-infused substrate into a utensil shaped mould to obtain a moulded substrate;
incubating the moulded substrate to promote growth of the mushroom mycelium; and
drying the moulded substrate at a temperature in the range of 70 - 80 degree Celsius to arrest growth of the mushroom mycelium and obtain a biodegradable utensil.
2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the lignocellulosic agricultural waste include wheat straw or rice bran.
3. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the nutrient substrate includes natural flours, vitamins, or minerals.
4. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the mushroom mycelium corresponds to oyster mushroom mycelium.
