Specification

Description:FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to a field of biofuels and, in particular, to a method for preparing biodiesel from waste cooking oil. The invention aims to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of biodiesel production by utilizing waste materials.
BACKGROUND

[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] Traditional methods of biodiesel production often rely on virgin vegetable oils, which compete with food resources and can be environmentally unsustainable. The increasing demand for , Claims:1. A method (100) for preparing biodiesel from waste cooking oil comprising:
collecting and filtering waste cooking oil to remove impurities;
transesterifying the filtered oil with an alcohol in the presence of a catalyst to produce biodiesel and glycerol;
separating the biodiesel from the glycerol and other by-products;
washing and purifying the biodiesel to meet quality standards; and
evaluating the biodiesel for performance in engines.

2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the alcohol is methanol.

3. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the catalyst is sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide.

4. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the washing process includes water washing and drying.
