Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for optimizing off-season flower production in Chrysanthemum (Dendranthema x grandiflora Tzvelev) cultivars under low hill climatic conditions. The method utilizes High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) as a covering material, combined with photoperiod adjustments, temperature regulation, targeted nutrient management, and integrated pest and disease control to achieve superior flowering outcomes. HDPE enhances light diffusion, stabilizes temperature, and promotes earlier bud formation and flowering compared to traditional materials like tarpaulin and black satin cloth. The method also incorporates blackout curtains and LED lighting for precise photoperiod manipulation, along with biostimulants and micronutrient supplementation to improve flower size, weight, and yield. Trials demonstrate significant improvements, including reduced time to flowering (110.74 days), increased flower yield (44.71 flowers per plant), and extended post-harvest vase life (4.84 days). Therefore, unless otherwise indicated, it should not be assumed that any of the approaches described in this section qualify as prior art merely by virtue of their inclusion in , Claims:1. A method for optimizing off-season flower production in Chrysanthemum cultivars under low hill climatic conditions, comprising:
a. The use of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) as a covering material,
b. The implementation of photoperiod management using blackout curtains and artificial lighting,
c. Temperature regulation through mulching and shading nets,
d. Nutrient supplementation with a specific ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (N:P) and micronutrients,
e. Application of biostimulants to promote vegetative growth and flowering.
2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein HDPE is employed to regulate light diffusion and temperature, facilitating earlier bud formation within 49.41 days and flowering within 110.74 days.
3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cultivars selected include 'White Star,' 'Yellow Star,' 'Surf,' 'Purnima,' and 'Apricot Parasol,' which exhibit adaptability to the method and enhanced flower yield.
