Abstract

ABSTRACT A method (100) for detecting plant diseases. Further, the method comprising capturing a plurality of digital images of plant leaves under varied lighting conditions and from multiple angles. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of pre-processing the captured images to enhance quality and remove noise, including converting the images to a standardized format and performing background removal. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of extracting relevant features from the pre-processed images, including colour, texture, and shape features. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of training a classification model utilizing a machine learning algorithm. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of applying the trained model to classify new plant images as either healthy or diseased, generating an output report that includes the predicted disease type and recommendations for treatment.

Specification

Description:FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to the field of agricultural technology and in particular relates to a method for detecting plant diseases using machine learning techniques, aimed at enhancing crop health management and minimizing the use of harmful pesticides through timely and accurate disease identification.
BACKGROUND
[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] The increasing global demand for food, coupled with the challenges posed by climate change and the rise of plant diseases, , Claims:1. A method (100) for detecting plant diseases, the method comprising the steps of:
capturing a plurality of digital images of plant leaves under varied lighting conditions and from multiple angles;
pre-processing the captured images to enhance quality and remove noise, including converting the images to a standardized format and performing background removal;
extracting relevant features from the pre-processed images, including colour, texture, and shape features;
training a classification model utilizing a machine learning algorithm, specifically a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), based on the extracted features and a labelled dataset of healthy and diseased plants; and
applying the trained model to classify new plant images as either healthy or diseased, generating an output report that includes the predicted disease type and recommendations for treatment.

2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, further comprising providing a graphical user interface (GUI) that allows users to upload images, view re
