Abstract
ABSTRACT A method (100) for designing a sustainable city, the method (100) comprising the steps of identifying one or more materials to be used in construction of a city based on an embodied energy and a cost per unit of the one or more materials, calculating total embodied energy for each of the one or more materials across multiple locations in a designated urban area by aggregating an energy consumption for extraction, production, transportation, and construction, optimizing the selection of the one or more materials and construction methodologies through a multi-objective minimization approach, reducing both total embodied energy and total material and construction costs, implementing constraint limits for quantity of each of the one or more material and total embodied energy per location within the city and generating a comprehensive urban plan that utilizes life cycle assessment (LCA) modelling by incorporating the optimized material of the one or more materials.

Description:
FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to a field of designing in particular relates to a method for designing a sustainable city.
BACKGROUND
[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] Urbanization and the expansion of cities have led to an increase in construction activities that, in turn, contribute significantly to global energy consumption and carbon emissions. As cities continue to grow, the need for sustainable urban development has become critical to reduce environmental impacts, con , Claims:1. A method (100) for designing a sustainable city, the method (100) comprising the steps of:
identifying one or more materials to be used in construction of a city based on an embodied energy and a cost per unit of the one or more materials;
calculating total embodied energy (TEmTE_mTEm) for each of the one or more construction materials across multiple locations in a designated urban area by aggregating an energy consumption for extraction, production, transportation, and construction;
optimizing the selection of the one or more construction materials and construction methodologies through a multi-objective minimization approach, reducing both total embodied energy and total material and construction costs;
implementing constraint limits for quantity of each of the one or more construction material and total embodied energy per location within the city; and
generating a comprehensive urban plan that utilizes life cycle assessment (LCA) modelling by incorporating the optimized material of the one or more mat
