Abstract
ABSTRACT
A method (100) for coating soft materials. Further, the method comprising preparing a substrate made of a soft material selected from the group consisting of polymers, elastomers, ceramics, and composites. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of utilizing a cold spray system, a nozzle configured for supersonic velocities, and a powder feeding system. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of adjusting operational parameters of the cold spray system, including a standoff distance of 10 mm to 25 mm, a particle velocity of 250 m/s to 350 m/s, and a gas temperature of 250°C to 350°C. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of spraying the accelerated metal powder onto the substrate surface to form a dense and adherent coating. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of evaluating the adhesion and thickness of the resulting coating to ensure it meets predetermined quality standards.

Specification
Description:FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to the field of advanced manufacturing technologies and, in particular, to a method for coating soft materials using cold spray technology as an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional electroforming processes, aimed at enhancing the efficiency and quality of coatings while minimizing substrate deformation and material waste.
BACKGROUND
[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] The increasing demand for high-performance coatings in various i , Claims:1. A method (100) for coating soft materials, the method comprising the steps of:
preparing a substrate made of a soft material selected from the group consisting of polymers, elastomers, ceramics, and composites;
utilizing a cold spray system that includes a gas source for accelerating metal powder particles, a nozzle configured for supersonic velocities, and a powder feeding system for introducing the metal powder into the gas stream;
adjusting operational parameters of the cold spray system, including a standoff distance of 10 mm to 25 mm, a particle velocity of 250 m/s to 350 m/s, and a gas temperature of 250°C to 350°C;
spraying the accelerated metal powder onto the substrate surface to form a dense and adherent coating; and
evaluating the adhesion and thickness of the resulting coating to ensure it meets predetermined quality standards.
2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the metal powder is selected from the group consisting of copper, nickel, aluminium, and their alloys.
