Abstract

ABSTRACT A method (100) for biotreatment of toxic dyes, the method (100) comprising the steps of isolating and culturing bacterial strains with high dye-decolourization capability, immobilizing the isolated bacterial strains with calcium alginate to obtain bacteria immobilised bead, introducing the bacteria immobilized beads into wastewater containing toxic dyes and incubating the beads in the wastewater under conditions suitable, wherein the bacteria immobilised beads breakdown the toxic dye.

[0001] This invention generally relates to a field of toxic dyes and in particular relates to a method for biotreatment of toxic dyes.
BACKGROUND

[0003] Industrial wastewater, especially from textile, leather, and dye-manufacturing industries, contains toxic dyes that pose a significant environmental threat. These dyes are often carcinogenic, mutagenic, and resistant to natural degradation processes, making their removal from wastewater challenging. Toxic d , Claims:1. A method (100) for biotreatment of toxic dyes, the method (100) comprising the steps of:
isolating and culturing bacterial strains with high dye-decolourization capability;
immobilizing the isolated bacterial strains with calcium alginate to obtain bacteria immobilised beads;
introducing the bacteria immobilized beads into wastewater containing toxic dyes; and
incubating the beads in the wastewater under conditions suitable, wherein the bacteria immobilised beads breakdown the toxic dye.

2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, further comprising integrating the bacteria immobilised beads with magnetic nanoparticles to facilitate recovery and reuse of the bacterial-immobilized beads from the treated wastewater.
