ABSTRACT A method (100) for biofuel production, the method (100) comprising the steps of isolating a microalgae strain from an aquatic environment using nutrient-enriched media, sub-culturing the microalgae strain to obtain a microalgae biomass, increasing lipid content of the microalgae biomass by optimizing growth conditions in a wastewater-based cultivation and applying a lipid extraction technique selected from chemical or mechanical methods to obtain a biofuel.

[0001] This invention generally relates to a field of biofuels and in particular relates to a method for biofuel production using microalgae biomass.
BACKGROUND

[0003] Traditionally, biofuel production has relied on sources such as crop-based feed stocks, including corn, soy, and palm oil. While these sources are capable of yielding biofuel, their use raises concern about land use, food security, and environmental impact. Moreover, traditional biofuel sourc , Claims:1. 2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the growth conditions include temperature, pH, and nutrient concentration.

3. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the chemical method includes Soxhlet extraction or supercritical fluid extraction.

4. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the mechanical method includes ultrasonic-assisted or microwave-assisted extraction.
