Abstract
ABSTRACT A method (100) for assessing the non-adherence rate of pharmacotherapy among hypertensive patients. Further, the method comprising conducting a systematic review of existing literature to identify studies reporting medication adherence rates among hypertensive patients in India. Further, the method (100) comprising the steps of employing the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS) as a standardized tool for evaluating medication adherence in the identified studies. Description:
FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to the field of pharmacotherapy adherence and, in particular, to a method for assessing non-adherence rates among hypertensive patients, aimed at identifying factors influencing medication compliance to improve health outcomes.
BACKGROUND
[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] Hypertension is a prevalent chronic condition that affects millions of individuals worldwide. Effective management of hypertension often requires long-term pharmacotherapy; ho , Claims:1. A method (100) for assessing the non-adherence rate of pharmacotherapy among hypertensive patients, the method comprising the steps of:
conducting a systematic review of existing literature to identify studies reporting medication adherence rates among hypertensive patients in India;
employing the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS) as a standardized tool for evaluating medication adherence in the identified studies;
extracting relevant data from the selected studies, including sample size, adherence rates, demographic information, and factors associated with non-adherence;
performing a meta-analysis using statistical software to calculate the pooled prevalence of medication adherence among the hypertensive population; and
analyzing the factors influencing non-adherence through subgroup analysis and multivariate regression techniques to identify significant determinants of medication adherence.
2. The method (100) as claimed in claim 1, further comprising assessing the non-adherence rate of pharmaco
