METHOD AND APPARATUS OF ENCODING/DECODING POINT CLOUD GEOMETRY DATA SENSED BY AT LEAST ONE SENSOR

Abstract

There is provided methods and apparatus of encoding/decoding point cloud geometry data sensed by at least one sensor associated with a sensor index, said point cloud geometry data being represented by ordered coarse points occupying some discrete positions of a set of discrete positions of a two-dimensional space. The method comprises predictive encoding/decoding a residual radius (r res) by using a predicting radius (r pred) selected in a list of candidate radiuses (L={r 2}) comprising at least one radius (r 2) associated with at least one occupied coarse point (P 2) that fulfills at least one eligibility condition indicating that the radius, associated with said at least one occupied coarse point (P 2), is likely reducing a dynamic of the residual radius (r res).
