Abstract

ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The proposed invention is an incorporation of a navigation and. tracking system designed for Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) with an emphasis on improving the ease of locating vehicles such as two wheelers in dense parking environments. This is a solution to the growing challenges faced by vehicle owners in urban areas, especially when many identical models are parked closely together. At the core of the invention is are two modules implemented for long range and short range tracking. The long range tracking module includes a Geographic Positional System module connected to a central embedded system, capable of tracking the location of the vehicle at any time. The short range tracking module is a remote locator technology, also connected to the central system. This can be utilized for locating vehicles under 500m, particularly designed for dense parking environments. Connectivity modules such as GSM modules are included in the central system for ease of communication. To make our invention highly accessible, we have implemented the most rudimentary method of cellular communication i.e. Short Message Service (SMS). This helps in keeping track of the previous locations of the vehicle directly available in the user’s device. There are two ways to access the location of the vehicle, (1) User can send a keyword allocated to them to receive the location of the vehicle, (2) In case of unwarranted access or theft of the vehicle, an emergency alert message will be sent along with the current or previously detected location of the vehicle. FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
[0001] This'invention relates to a navigation and tracking system for light motor vehicles (LMVs)-and, more particularly, to a system designed to enhance the ease of locating vehicles, especially two-wheelers, in dense parking environments.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
[002] Locating vehicles in large, densely packed parking lots has become increasingly difficult, particularly in urban areas where many identical models are parked close together. Although some modern vehicles have tracking and locating technologies, these are often inaccessible to vehicle owners of lower-cost models, especially two- wheelers. There is a growing need for a cost-effective and easy-to-use solution to address these challenges.

PRIOR METHODOLOGY:
[0003]Wei Min, Jimmy Wong &Jali, Nurfauza. (2021). Vehicle Tracking System. International Journal of Scientific & Technology Research. 10. 10-17. - This technology involves studying existing vehicle tracking systems and developing a new system using Arduino and an loT platform. This system combines GPS and GSM modules for realtime tracking. Using the Extreme Programming methodology, requirements were collected from 40 participants to identify key features. The design included-iterative adjustments based on feedback, leading to a system that allows vehicle owners to track their vehicles anytime and anywhere via a web application or SMS.

[0004] Zohari, MohdHakimi&Zohari, Bin & Bin, Mohd & Nazri, Mohd. (2021). GPS Based Vehicle Tracking System. International Journal of Scientific & Technology Research. 10. 278-282. - The research developed a GPS-based Vehicle Tracking System using an Arduino MEGA microcontroller as the main processing unit. The system integrates a Ublox NE0-6m GPS module to determine coordinates and a SIM 900A GSM.module for communication with the user. The system performed well in outdoor environments but encountered issues indoors due to signal obstruction,, which affected the GPS module's accuracy. Future improvements suggest using higher-quality GPS modules, such as the GPS NEO-6P, for more accurate data collection and better satellite connectivity.

[0005] Vehicle tracking system using GPS technology [doi- 10.22214/ijraset.2022.44019] -This technology involves the use of a GPS device
installed in the vehicle to gather real-time positional data. This data is transmitted using
GSM technology to a remote monitoring system. The system updates the vehicle's location continuously, allowing users to track it through specialized software or mobile applications. The design focuses on reducing costs and improving accessibility, making it suitable for applications like school buses and public transportation vehicles.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
[0006] The invention provides an LMV Navigation System that incorporates both long-range and short-range tracking modules. The long-range module uses, a Geographic Positional System (GPS) connected to a central embedded system to
track the location of the vehicle at any time. The short-range module employs a remote locator technology to locate vehicles within 500 meters. Additionally, a Short Message Service (SMS)-based communication feature allows users to send a keyword to receive the vehicle's location or to be notified in case of theft or unauthorized access. This system provides a scalable, cost-effective solution tailored for two-wheelers and similar vehicles in urban environments.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS:
[0007]Fig. 1 represents the system architecture of an Arduino-based GPS and GSM tracking device. It illustrates the connections between an Arduino UNO board, a GPS module, a GSM module (SIM800L), and a DC-DC step-down power converter. The diagram also shows a 9V power supply for powering the system.

[0008]Fig. 2 (Key Fob Module):Contains a Transmitter connected to a Power Source.
The transmitter sends signals to the Receiver in the Transmitter Module.

(Transmitter Module):Contains a Receiver that accepts signals from the Key Fob's Transmitter. The Receiver is connected to a Sound Module and a Light, both powered by a Power Source. When the Receiver gets a signal, it likely activates the Sound Module and Light.
