Abstract

This invention relates to an IoT-enabled smart hospital bed integrated with an AI-driven patient fall detection and prevention system designed to enhance patient safety. The smart bed utilizes pressure sensors, accelerometers, gyroscopes, and vital sign monitors to continuously track the patient’s movements and health parameters. Data collected by these sensors is analyzed by an AI-based predictive model, which detects abnormal movement patterns and identifies fall risks in real-time. When a fall risk is detected, the system triggers automatic preventive actions such as adjusting the bed height, activating side rails, or tilting the bed to ensure patient stability. The system also features an IoT communication module that alerts caregivers via mobile apps or hospital dashboards, enabling rapid intervention. The smart bed integrates seamlessly with hospital management systems and electronic health records (EHRs), ensuring a comprehensive solution for modern healthcare environments. This invention offers significant advantages in proactive fall prevention, real-time patient monitoring, improved caregiver efficiency, and data-driven patient care, making it highly applicable for hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities.
