Abstract
The smart parking solution is an advanced vehicle parking management system aimed at minimizing the need for space on the ground. The system is equipped with LoRa WAN wireless Sensors placed at different parking lots to sense the availability of parking lots and pass information to the central gateway. This information is further processed and made available to a mobile application for end users to search and book available parking lots. The mobile application supports numerous useful applications such as display of availability in real time, assuring the user on booking and reservation of slots with a little payment, and pay at exit with many alternatives. Moreover, a digital board allows users to book for next day reservations offline, which is useful for those who prefer making plans. All these assists in the parking process by minimizing queuing and enhancing productivity. Also, this intelligent parking system include, special offers and promotions such as allowing hospital users who come to donate blood parking. Such element adds value to the service as it incentivizes and encourages interaction within the society. All in all, the smart parking system is a modern piece of technological advancement that eases the challenges experienced while trying to manage parking in smaller areas hence helps in preventing traffic build up making it very suitable in the inner city of regions where parking management is an issue to drivers.
