HANDOVER OF POSITIONING REFERENCE UNIT FUNCTIONALITY

Abstract

Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a terminal device handing over a positioning reference unit (PRU) functionality to one or more other terminal devices. In an example method, a first terminal device transmits a request to a set of terminal devices, which is for a handover of a PRU functionality of the first terminal device. The first terminal device receives a set of respective handover responses from the set of terminal devices. Based on the set of handover responses, the first terminal device determines from the set of terminal devices a second terminal device for handing over the PRU functionality from the first terminal device to the second terminal device. The first terminal device transmits to the second terminal device a handover indication of initiating the handover. The example embodiments of the present disclosure can improve positioning performance of terminal devices in a communication network.
