Abstract

English Teaching Kit / Device for Teaching Braille Language to the Blind Students ABSTRACT: In India, it is evident that computers have not penetrated even standard schools in rural and isolated regions, making it seems implausible for visually impaired students to learn to utilise them. For numerous youngsters in India, a visual impairment nearly inevitably results in social isolation from the community. These adolescents endeavour to improve their circumstances, frequently forgoing their education for employment that provides only a minimal daily income. Acquiring proficiency in Braille is a challenging endeavour for visually impaired students. Visually impaired children must memorise the distinct patterns of keys in the Braille matrix designated for various letters, words, and symbols in Braille script to read and write proficiently. The electronic Braille kit aids individuals in mastering the more challenging aspects of Braille, so enhancing their understanding and support in orientation and mobility. The Braille Keypad facilitates Braille learning through tactile feedback and auditory output. The keypad lets visually challenged users to enter Braille characters into the device simply for different use and works.

Specification

Description:DESCRIPTIONS:
The engineer community's spontaneous response to expanding the ideas and concepts of "Assistive Technologies" has been remarkable. In affluent nations, specialised facilities are provided to assist those with disabilities in navigating their environment and working in buildings with minimal dependence on external support. Technological advancements, particularly in precise manufacturing and electronics, have produced products that significantly assist those with disabilities in managing their specific challenges. The innovative Orbit Teacher Remote is a solution that allows educators to seamlessly provide braille instruction to visually impaired pupils from a distance. This is achieved via Orbit Reader braille displays and an Android application. This enables smooth communication between the instructor and the student over the internet, offering an experience akin to in-person interaction. Although this is very important during the pandemic, it also proves beneficial at regular times due to the limited availability of educators trained in visual impairments. The Orbit Teacher platform enables teachers in conventional classrooms to connect with visually impaired pupils via an application that can be downloaded on mobile devices, computers, or tablets. The program connects to the student's Orbit Reader braille display using Bluetooth technology to provide real-time text translation of the braille being read or written by the learner. All of these functionalities can now be accessed remotely via the internet due to the latest version. The teacher can watch the student's braille display, monitor the student's learning progress, and type and navigate on the student's device, similar to the functionality of screen-sharing software on computers. Orbit Teacher Remote bridges the distance between the student and the teacher in the context of remote learning. The learner must possess a braille display compatible with the Orbit Reader system and an affordable Android tablet or phone capable of internet connectivity. An Android handset and an Orbit Reader braille display are required for the instructor to utilise the Orbit instructor program. Bluetooth is utilised to establish a connection between the Orbit Reader and the Orbit Teacher program on the Android tablet or phone. The Android device is thereafter connected to the internet via either Wi-Fi or the cellular network. The application is fully accessible with the Talkback screen reader. The system is simple to configure, and the application offers advice to both the instructor and the student during this singular process. Upon completion, the system can be employed immediately and at any moment. The educator can swiftly re-establish rapport with students due to a functionality that logs their connection history. Discussions between the instructor and the student may occur over telephone, Zoom, Skype, or any preferred means. Upon establishing the connection, the student's Orbit Reader content is instantly reflected on the teacher's app, mirroring the student's braille display as they engage with it. This transpires immediately following the establishment of the connection. The application features both a braille typeface and visual fonts to present the material on the screen. The braille from the student's unit will be replicated on the tablet if the instructor links their own Orbit Reader to the device. The instructor can exert full control and operation on the Orbit Reader device assigned to the pupil. This encompasses the capability to manage actions such file opening, reading, editing, and device customisation via the menu, among other functionalities. The student and the teacher can exchange materials for classwork and homework through a mechanism that facilitates file transmission between them. The application can translate to and from contracted braille and supports over forty more languages. The Orbit Teacher is a groundbreaking device that will transform the experience for visually impaired children and their educators worldwide. The Orbit Reader 20, the most affordable braille display globally, provides a modern, economical, and high-quality solution for inclusive and distant education.
