Abstract

This encoding device (100) comprises a memory (152) and a circuit (151). When in operation, the circuit (151): selects a mode for encoding vertices to be encoded from within a first mode set, which includes a normal mode for encoding vertices to be encoded of a second triangle by using a first triangle, if the first triangle satisfies given conditions, or selects a mode from within a second mode set, which includes an exception mode for encoding vertices to be encoded by using a third triangle different from both the first triangle and the second triangle, if the first triangle does not satisfy the given conditions; and encodes the vertices to be encoded in accordance with the selected mode.
