Abstract

ABSTRACT A driver drowsiness detection system (100) comprising a video capture device (102) configured to capture frames of a driver’s face in real time, a processor (104) communicatively coupled to the video capture device (102) and configured to convert each of the captured frames into grayscale for isolating eye region in each of the captured frames, classify the eye region in each of the captured frames as open eye or closed eye and determine a drowsiness score based on frequency and duration of the eye region in each of the captured frames as closed eye with respect to a predefined time interval, and an alarm module (106) coupled to the processor (104), wherein the alarm module is configured to generate an audio alert to warn the driver based at least on the drowsiness score.

Specification

Description:FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to a field of detection system and in particular relates to a driver drowsiness detection system.
BACKGROUND

[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] Traditional methods of monitoring driver drowsiness have relied heavily on physiological sensors or behavioural observations that are often intrusive, uncomfortable, or impractical for real-time implementation in everyday driving environments. Physiological monitoring, such as electroencephalography (EEG , Claims:1. A driver drowsiness detection system (100) comprising:
a video capture device (102) configured to capture frames of a driver's face in real time;
a processor (104) communicatively coupled to the video capture device (102) and configured to:
convert each of the captured frames into grayscale for isolating eye region in each of the captured frames;
classify the eye region in each of the captured frames as open eye or closed eye; and
determine a drowsiness score based on frequency and duration of the eye region in each of the captured frames as closed eye with respect to a predefined time interval; and
an alarm module (106) coupled to the processor (104), wherein the alarm module is configured to generate an audio alert to warn the driver based at least on the drowsiness score.
2. The driver drowsiness detection system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the processor further includes a data augmentation module configured to train the processor based at least on one or more transformations.
3. The driver d
