DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRIAL ROOF SHEET USING BANANA FIBER ROPE MAT REINFORCED POLYMER COMPOSITES

Published

date

Filed on 22 November 2024

Abstract

The invention relates to the development of industrial roof sheets made from banana fiber rope mat reinforced polymer composites. This innovative composite material combines the natural strength and flexibility of banana fiber with the durability and versatility of polymer matrices, resulting in roof sheets with enhanced mechanical properties, durability, and environmental resistance. The banana fiber rope mats are treated to improve their adhesion to the polymer matrix, and the composite is processed using molding techniques such as compression molding or extrusion. The invention provides a cost-effective, sustainable, and high-performance roofing solution, suitable for use in industrial buildings, warehouses, agricultural facilities, and other structures, offering improved performance compared to traditional roofing materials.

Specification

Description:The embodiments of the present invention generally relates to the field of polymer composite materials, specifically to the development of industrial roofing sheets reinforced with natural fibers. It encompasses the synthesis, processing, and application of banana fiber rope mat reinforced polymer composites to create durable, eco-friendly, and cost-effective roof sheets for industrial and commercial buildings.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The following description of related art is intended to provide background information pertaining to the field of the disclosure. This section may include certain aspects of the art that may be related to various features of the present disclosure. However, it should be appreciated that this section be used only to enhance the understanding of the reader with respect to the present disclosure, and not as admissions of prior art.

Industrial roof sheets are conventionally manufactured using materials such as asbestos, metal sheets, or synthetic polymers. While these materials , Claims:1. An industrial roof sheet comprising:
a polymer matrix selected from thermosetting or thermoplastic resins, and
banana fiber rope mats uniformly dispersed within the polymer matrix,
wherein the banana fiber rope mats are treated to enhance adhesion with the polymer matrix, resulting in a composite material with improved mechanical strength, durability, and environmental resistance suitable for industrial applications.

2. The industrial roof sheet of claim 1, wherein the polymer matrix comprises a thermosetting resin selected from epoxy, polyester, or vinyl ester resins.

3. The industrial roof sheet of claim 1, wherein the polymer matrix comprises a thermoplastic resin selected from polypropylene or polyethylene.

4. The industrial roof sheet of claim 1, wherein the banana fiber rope mats are treated with an alkali solution to remove lignin, hemicellulose, and impurities, improving fiber-matrix adhesion.

5. The industrial roof sheet of claim 1, wherein the banana fiber rope mats are chemically treated wit
