Abstract
In response to the harmful effects associated with synthetic hair dyes, this study aims to develop and evaluate an eco-friendly poly herbal hair dye. The formulation includes natural ingredients like henna, indigo, amla, jatamansi, black catechu, bhringraj, black cumin seeds, charcoal, alkanet root, and Loha Bhasma, utilizing solvents such as aloe vera gel, tea decoction, or coconut shell oil. Unlike conventional chemical dyes that cause side effects like skin irritation, hair damage, and allergic reactions, this herbal dye is free from harsh additives, promoting hair growth, nourishment, conditioning, and scalp health. The formulations (F1-F6) were subjected to various tests, including organoleptic, physicochemical, micromeritics, dyeing effect, retention capacity, and stability studies. Among these, formulation F2, The present work is aimed to develop and evaluate Eco-friendly poly- herbal hair dye by using mixed herbal of henna, indigo, amla, jatamansi, black catechu, bhringraj, black cumin seeds, charcoal, alkanet root and Loha Bhasma with either aloe-vera gel or tea decoction or coconut shell oil as solvent (F l -F6). Conventional methods of hair dyeing involve use of chemicals that results unpleasant side effects like skin irritation, allergy, hair breakage, loss or damage of hair, allergic reaction, asthma, hair fall, skin rashes, itchy scalp, skin discoloration, erythema, skin cancer and unwanted effect on pregnancy, which produced a darkest brown color, showed superior dyeing efficiency and stability without any side effects.

THE FIELD OF INVENTION
The invention pertains to the cosmetic and personal care industry, focusing on the development of natural, eco-friendly hair dye products.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The use of cosmetics, particularly hair dyes, has a long history, with a growing demand for safer, natural alternatives to synthetic dyes. Chemical dyes are associated with numerous health risks, including allergic reactions, hair damage, and even cancer. The global market trends indicate a significant shift towards herbal hair care products due to their safety and beneficial properties. Natural hair dyes, derived from plant sources, offer a promising solution, providing color without the adverse effects of synthetic chemicals. This invention aims to provide a natural alternative by formulating a polyherbal hair dye that is safe, effective, and environmentally friendly.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The invention focuses on creating a polyherbal hair dye using a blend of natural ingredients known for their coloring, nourishing, and conditioning properties. The key ingredients include henna, indigo, amla, jatamansi, black catechu, bhringraj, black cumin seeds, charcoal, alkanet root, and Loha Bhasma. These ingredients are combined with natural solvents like aloe vera gel, tea decoction, and coconut shell oil to create formulations that are not only effective in coloring the hair but also promote hair and scalp health. Among the formulations tested, F2 was identified as the most effective, providing a deep brown color with excellent retention and stability.
Specifications
Ingredients: The polyherbal dye includes henna, indigo, amla, jatamansi, black catechu, bhringraj, black cumin seeds, charcoal, alkanet root, and Loha Bhasma. These are mixed with solvents such as aloe vera gel, tea decoction, or coconut shell oil.
Formulation Process: The herbal powders are weighed and mixed, then combined with the chosen solvent to create a paste. This paste is applied to hair to evaluate its dyeing effect, retention capacity, and stability under different conditions.
Evaluation: The formulations underwent various-tests-to-assess-their organoleptic properties (color, odor, texture), physicochemical parameters (pH, moisture content), micromeritics (bulk and tapped density, angle of repose), dyeing effect, retention capacity, and stability. F2 showed the best performance in dyeing efficiency and stability, with a dark brown color that remained vibrant after
multiple washes.
Advantages: The polyherbal hair dye is completely natural, biodegradable, and free from harmful chemicals. It is effective in coloring hair while also providing nourishment, conditioning, and protection against common hair and scalp issues. The dye is suitable for all hair types and is easy to
apply.
The polyherbal hair dye developed in this study offers a safe, effective, and eco-friendly alternative to synthetic hair dyes. Formulation F2, in particular, demonstrated superior performance in terms of dyeing effect and stability, making it a promising product for consumers seeking natural hair care
solutions.
