Abstract

Disclosed herein is a salt of formula (I): wherein q is + or –; p is 2+, +, – or 2–; g is 1 or 2; G is selected from R5-C=C-CO2–, R5- C=C-C(=O)S–, R5-C=C-CS2–, R5-C=C-SO2–, R5-C=C-S(=O)S–, R5-C=C-SO3–, R5-C=C-S(=O)2S–, and a diallylammonium group, wherein R5 is independently selected from H, linear or branched C1-6 alkyl; L is straight-chain C1-15 alkyl, wherein one or more CH2 groups are independently replaced by -(CH2-O-CH2)-, -(CH2-CH2-O)-, -(O-CH2-CH2)-, C=O, -O-, -S-, -NH- or –NR1-, wherein R1 is linear or branched C1-6 alkyl; A is selected from NR23+, CO2–, C(=O)S–, CS2–, SO2–, S(=O)S–, SO3– and S(=O)2S–, wherein R2 is, for each occurrence independently, selected from H, linear or branched C1-6 alkyl; E is selected from NR32, NR33+, CO2H, C(=O)SH, CS2H, SO2H, S(=O)SH, SO3H, S(=O)2SH, CO2–, C(=O)S–, CS2–, SO2–, S(=O)S–, SO3–, S(=O)2S–, wherein, for each occurrence independently, R3 is selected from H, linear or branched C1-6 alkyl; with the proviso that the overall charge of A and E is not 0 and with the proviso that the salt of formula I is overall neutral in charge. Further disclosed are cosmetic preparations comprising salts of formula I as well as uses of such salts or preparations as hair care products.
