AUTOMATIC WATER PUMP CONTROLLER

ORDINARY APPLICATION

Published

date

Filed on 26 November 2024

Abstract

The Automatic Pump Controller is a device designed to efficiently manage the water levels in storage tanks by automating the operation of water pumps. Utilizing a float switch and a microcontroller, the system monitors the water level within the tank and controls the pump accordingly. When the water level drops below a preset minimum, the system automatically activates the pump to refill the tank. Once the water reaches the maximum level, the pump is turned off to prevent overflow. This system not only enhances convenience by eliminating the need for manual monitoring but also promotes water conservation and energy efficiency. The Automatic Pump Controller is adaptable to various tank sizes and is suitable for residential, agricultural, and industrial applications, offering a reliable solution for maintaining optimal water levels in storage tanks.

Specification

TECHNICAL FIELD
The Automatic Pump Controller is an IoT-based solution designed to automatically manage water levels in storage tanks by controlling the operation of a water pump. The system utilizes a float switch to monitor the water level and engages or disengages the pump accordingly. This ensures efficient water usage, prevents overflow, and reduces the need for manual intervention. The system is ideal for both residential and industrial applications, providing a reliable method to maintain optimal water levels with minimal user input.
BACKGROUND
Traditionally, water pump control in residential and commercial buildings has relied on manual operation or simple, timer-based systems. However, these methods are often inefficient, leading to water overflow, pump damage, or insufficient water supply. The Automatic Pump Controller is developed to eliminate these issues by providing a fully automated solution that responds to real-time water level data, thereby enhancing efficiency and reliability.

ifications
The height measuring loT device comprises several key components: an Arduino Uno microcontroller, an HC-SR.04 ultrasonic sensor, a 16x2 LCD display, and a buzzer. The device operates by utilizing the ultrasonic sensor to measure the distance from the sensor to the top of a person's head. This sensor is positioned at a fixed height of 180 cm from the ground. When the device is activated, the Arduino sends a signal to the ultrasonic sensor to emit ultrasonic waves. These waves travel through the air and reflect back to the sensor when they hit an object, in this case, the top of the person's head.
The sensor then measures the time taken for the waves to return, and using this time, the Arduino calculates the distance betw.een.the sensor and.the head. The calculated distance is subtracted from the fixed height of 180 cm to determine the height of the person standing under the device. The result, representing the person's height in centimeters, is displayed on the LCD screen.
Additionally, the device features a buzzer that provides auditory feedback once the measurement is complete.
This feature ensures that the user knows when to check the displayed height. The device is designed to be simple to use, requiring the user only to stand directly under the sensor for an accurate measurement. The compact and user-friendly design makes it suitable for various applications, such as in medical clinics, fitness centers, or at home for personal use.

The Automatic Pump Controller is a system designed to automate the process of managing water levels in storage tanks. It uses a float switch to monitor the water level and a relay module to control the pump, ensuring the tank is filled when necessary and the pump is turned off when the tank is full. This system is ideal for applications where maintaining a consistent water level is crucial, such as in residential, agricultural, or industrial settings.
The system operates based on the movement of the float switch, which is installed inside the tank. When the water level drops below a certain point, the float descends, closing the circuit and sending a signal to the microcontroller. The microcontroller then activates the relay, which turns on the pump, allowing water to fill the tank" As the water level rises, the float ascends, and when it reaches the upper threshold, the circuit is opened, signaling the microcontroller to deactivate the relay and turn off the pump.
The key components of the system include the float switch, microcontroller, relay module, and the water pump. The float switch acts as the primary sensor, detecting the water level and communicating with the microcontroller. The relay module serves as a switch that controls the high-power pump based on the microcontroller's instructions. The pump itself is responsible for moving water into the tank when needed.

A system for automatic control of a water pump using a float switch to detect water levels and operate the pump accordingly. • An indicator system that alerts users when the tank is either full or empty, providing real-time information about the tank's status. ~ • A method that allows the system to be adjusted for different tank sizes and operational conditions, ensuring versatility in various applications.
