Abstract

ABSTRACT An attendance management system (100) comprising an image capturing device (102) configured to capture images or video frames of individuals, a facial recognition interface (104) configured within the image capturing device (102) to identify and segment facial regions of interest (ROI) within the captured images or video frames, a feature extraction module (106) configured within the image capturing device (102) to extract features from the facial ROI and at least one processor (108). The at least one processor (108) is configured to implement adaptive histogram equalization on the extracted features from the facial ROI, compare the extracted features from the facial ROI with one or more template features and record attendance based at least on the facial ROI matching with one or more template features.
