Abstract
The proposed AI Driven System for real time monitoring of Food Spoilage and smart storage of Food Items helps to track the details of the food items stored in the refrigerator or in a food storage unit and also supports to extend the quality of storage process and to identify the spoilage of food. The system consists of 4 set of sensor modules comprising Gas sensor, Humidity Sensor and Temperature sensor. The gas sensor senses the presence of volatile organic components like ethylene, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, methane and carbon di oxide release during the process of spoilage of food. Humidity sensor and temperature sensors are used to measure and with the help of CNN algorithm to maintain the required condition to extend the freshness of the food. The camera present in the system captures pictures of the items present in the Food container and the CNN analyses the status of the food through the colour of the food and also the microbial growth is detected to display the status of the food. The display shows the status of the food and the duration of the food present in the container and also a real time update is available in the mobile app to track the condition of the food items.

Specification
Description:An AI Driven System for real time monitoring of Food Spoilage and smart storage of Food Items (100) consists of 4 sensor modules (201 - 204) with Gas Sensor, Temperature Sensor and Humidity Sensor are attached to four different compartments present in the container (200) meant for keeping the food items like fruits, vegetables and cooked food items etc., are connected to the Micro Controller Unit (300) to which a camera (400) is attached adjacent to the food container, keeps capturing pictures of the food items placed in the compartments, at regular interval.
The data are collected from the sensor modules and the images from the camera are processed by the MCU through CNN (301) algorithm that employs Decision Trees to analyze the quality of the food including colour fading/ changing. The system also detects the microbial growth by comparing the images to the datasets stored in the database. Based on the decision by the AI the temperature and humidity are automatically adjusted to extend the storage of the food.
It also indicates the status of the food items on the display (500) which is attached to the MCU, like how long the food items are being stored in each compartment and whether it is spoiled or not. So that we will be able to plan whether to consume or replace that particular food item. We can also track the updates using mobile app (502) which is enabled through cloud (501) to have a better idea and planning of smart storage of the food items.
