The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention generally relates to the field of dentistry. Specifically, the present invention relates to rubber dam. More particularly, the present invention relates to rubber dam for single tooth isolation for a wide range of dental procedures.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
A rubber dam is usually a small sheet of latex (though non‐latex versions are available) placed in a frame. A small hole is made in the sheet and placed over the tooth to be treated. The rubber dam is held on to the tooth being restored by means of a small clamp. This isolates the tooth from the rest of the person's mouth, which keeps the tooth to be restored dry and relatively less exposed to intraoral bacteria.
Potential advantages of the use of a rubber dam include superior isolation of the tooth to be treated from the saliva in the mouth, providing the dentist with improved visibility, reduced mirror fogging, enhanced visual contrast, soft tissue retraction, and preventing oral soft tissues from contact with irritating or harmful materials used during operative procedures, such as phosphoric acids or sodium hypochlorite.
There are reports available in the state of art relating to rubber dam.
EP1385441A2 discloses a general field isolation rubber dam (10) with particular applicability in the field of dentistry. An operative insert (14), in the form of a wire, stamping, or the like, is embedded in or applied to a sheet of elastomeric material (12) such as is used in conventional rubber dams. The operative insert (14) may be elastic, malleable, resilient and deformable or rigid. The operative insert (14) is usually in the form of a closed loop and an opening (18) or openings for defining an operative field is created in the rubber dam material interiorly of the closed loop. The operative insert (14) assists in isolating tensile forces in the rubber dam membrane outside of the insert from distorting the general field isolation dam adjacent the operative field.
EP1348396A2 discloses the coffer dam (10) incorporates a tapered bag (12) which surrounds a tooth. There is a row of projections (11) positioned along curved lines on the sides of the bag. The projections may be cut off to leave small holes. The bracket may consist of a flat approximately oval plate (13) with a raised rim (14) round the edge, formed in one piece with the bag.
US1604136A discloses a rubber-dam for dental use, comprising rubber sheeting and a plurality of nipple shaped protuberances to cooperate with the individual teeth and formed integrally in a proximate relationship on the said rubber sheeting.
Though, rubber dam with different shapes of punch hole exhibits advantages in the prior arts they do have disadvantages such as poor fit, reduced stability, potential patient discomfort, limited versatility, increased risk of contamination, and workflow inefficiencies.
Thus there exists a need in the state of art for developing an alternative rubber dam.
Hence an attempt has been made to develop a rubber dam for single tooth isolation for a wide range of dental procedures overcoming the above said drawbacks.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION:
The main object of the present invention is to fabricate a rubber dam.
Another object of the present invention is to fabricate a rubber dam comprising of elastomeric sheet with a punch hole of Quatrefoil shape.
Yet another object of the present invention is to fabricate an enhanced, stable and comfortable rubber dam.
Further object of the present invention is to utilize the fabricated rubber dam for complete isolation of single tooth without injury to gums for a wide range of dental procedures.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention discloses a rubber dam for single tooth isolation for a wide range of dental procedures. The rubber dam of the present invention comprises of a square shaped elastomeric sheet[1] characterized in that a punch hole[2] of shape comprising of four interconnected semi circles of equal dimensions thereby forming a Quatrefoil shape, disposed in the square shaped elastomeric sheet[1] for effectively accommodating single molar teeth with irregular shapes, multiple roots, or complex anatomy thereby enhancing utility in both general and specialized dental practices.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention discloses a rubber dam for single tooth isolation for a wide range of dental procedures.
The rubber dam of the present invention comprises of a square shaped elastomeric sheet[1] characterized in that a punch hole[2] of shape comprising of four interconnected semi circles of equal dimensions thereby forming a Quatrefoil shape, disposed in the square shaped elastomeric sheet[1] for effectively accommodating single molar teeth with irregular shapes, multiple roots, or complex anatomy thereby enhancing utility in both general and specialized dental practices.
The rubber dam in which the elastomeric sheet[1] is made of latex or nitrile and the dimensions of diameter of the four semi circles comprises of 2.5mm.
Its design aims to offer a more precise fit, enhanced stability, improved patient comfort, and greater versatility. By addressing these key areas, the rubber dam of the present invention enhances the overall effectiveness and efficiency of dental procedures. This innovative shape ensures better clinical outcomes and provides a superior experience for both dental professionals and their patients.
Advantages:

The rubber dam of the present invention comprises of a square shaped elastomeric sheet[1] characterized in that a punch hole[2] of shape comprising of four interconnected semi circles of equal dimensions thereby forming a Quatrefoil shape, disposed in the square shaped elastomeric sheet[1] for effectively accommodating single molar teeth with irregular shapes, multiple roots, or complex anatomy thereby enhancing utility in both general and specialized dental practices.
As per the invention, the rubber dam in which the elastomeric sheet[1] is made of latex or nitrile.
In accordance with the invention, the rubber dam in which dimensions of diameter of the four semi circles comprises of 2.5mm.
Although the invention has now been described in terms of certain preferred embodiments and exemplified with respect thereto, one skilled in art can readily appreciate that various modifications, changes, omissions and substitutions may be made without departing from the scope of the following claims.

A rubber dam for single tooth isolation for a wide range of dental procedures, comprises of a square shaped elastomeric sheet[1] characterized in that a punch hole[2] of shape comprising of four interconnected semi circles of equal dimensions thereby forming a Quatrefoil shape, disposed in the said square shaped elastomeric sheet[1] for effectively accommodating single molar teeth with irregular shapes, multiple roots, or complex anatomy thereby enhancing utility in both general and specialized dental practices.
2. The rubber dam as claimed in claim 1, wherein the said elastomeric sheet[1] is made of latex or nitrile.
3. The rubber dam as claimed in claim 1, wherein dimensions of diameter of the said four semi circles comprises of 2.5mm.
