Abstract

ABSTRACT A METHODOLOGY FOR STRUCTURAL HEALTH MONITORING OF STEEL BASED ON PHASE SPACE RECONSTRUCTION The present disclosure refers to a novel method for estimating corrosion using acoustic emission (AE) signals through phase space reconstruction. The process involves generating phase portraits from the time-domain AE signals emitted by a material, which can be classified into three types: left tilted elliptical, circular, and right tilted elliptical. The method quantifies these phase portraits by calculating a specific value for each type and an average value across all types. By analyzing the rate of change between these two quantitative values, the method derives a real-time parameter, denoted as β, that effectively represents the level of corrosion in the material. This approach offers a promising tool for real-time monitoring of corrosion, enhancing the understanding of material degradation. To be published with Fig. 1
