Abstract
ABSTRACT A method (100) for synthesizing Maghemite (?-Fe2O3) and Magnetite (Fe3O4) Nanoparticles, the method (100) comprising adding 50 mL of NaOH (1M) solution dropwise to the iron solution under vigorous stirring at room temperature. This will precipitate magnetite (Fe3O4). Further, stirring for an additional 30 minutes to ensure complete reaction. Further, allowing the mixture to settle and then collect the precipitate using centrifugation. Wash the precipitate with distilled water and ethanol several times to remove any unreacted precursors and by products. Further, oxidizing the synthesized magnetite nanoparticles by heating them at 200 °C for 2 hours in an air atmosphere or under controlled oxidation conditions. Further, treating the nanoparticles with HCl to ensure complete conversion to maghemite (?-Fe2O3) by adjusting the pH to around 7. Further, characterizing the synthesized nanoparticles using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electro

Description:FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to a field of semiconductors nanoparticles and in particular relates to a method for synthesizing Maghemite (?-Fe2O3) and Magnetite (Fe3O4) Nanoparticles.
BACKGROUND
[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] The advancement of nanotechnology has revolutionized various scientific and industrial sectors, particularly in the fields of magnetics, electronics, and biomedicine. Among the diverse array of nanomaterials, magnetic nanoparticles, such as magneti , Claims:1. A method (100) for synthesizing Maghemite (?-Fe2O3) and Magnetite (Fe3O4) Nanoparticles, the method comprising:
adding 50 mL of NaOH (1M) solution dropwise to the iron solution under vigorous stirring at room temperature, at step 102;
stirring for an additional 30 minutes to ensure complete reaction, at step 104;
allowing the mixture to settle and then collect the precipitate using centrifugation, wherein the precipitate is washed distilled water and ethanol several times to remove any unreacted precursors and by products, at step 106;
oxidizing the synthesized magnetite nanoparticles by heating them at 200 °C for 2 hours in an air atmosphere or under controlled oxidation conditions, at step 108;
treating the nanoparticles with HCl to ensure complete conversion to maghemite (?-Fe2O3) by adjusting the pH to around 7, at step 110; and
characterizing the synthesized nanoparticles using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), magnetic characteri
