Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a method for in-situ treatment of sewage as it passes through existing drains, without the need for any separate space or civil constructions. The present disclosure more particularly relates to a rapid, an inexpensive, and an effective in-situ method for treatment of sewage, by allowing passage of the sewage through a plurality of zones with predetermined lengths/ predetermined hydraulic retention times within existing drains of the sewage, without any civil construction or without utilizing any space around sewage drain, wherein employment of inexpensive, commonly and freely available aquatic weeds further reduces the cost of the sewage treatment. The present disclosure also relates to a system for in-situ treatment of sewage, wherein periodic maintenance of the system is cost effective, energy efficient, and easy.

Specification

Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method for in-situ treatment of sewage when it is passing through existing drains, without any separate civil structure, or without any significant usage of external space around the drain, by allowing passage of the sewage through a plurality of zones with predetermined functions, lengths, and hydraulic retention times.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Sewage (also referred as `domestic wastewater or 'municipal wastewater' ) is the type of polluted water that is continuously produced from the day-to-day existence of human beings. It is a mixture of: a) the grey water generated in the course of hand washing, bathing, laundry, dishwashing, and similar daily chores; b) the blackwater generated during flushing of toilets; and c) soaps/detergents and toilet paper. The fact that wherever human beings dwell, sewage is unfailingly generated, making sewage as the world's most regularly produced, widespread, and voluminous of water pollutant. It is full of degradi , C , C , Claims:WE CLAIM:
A method for in-situ treatment of sewage, by allowing passage of the sewage through a plurality of zones with predetermined lengths/ predetermined hydraulic retention times, said method comprising:
allowing passage of sewage through stage I provided with a screen (100) for filtering large-sized floating matters;
allowing passage of the sewage through stage II functionalized as a sedimentation zone (101) for removing settleable solids;
allowing passage of the sewage through stage III comprising a Single-Unit-Advanced-Treatment (SUAT) zone (103) provided with aquatic weeds for affecting secondary treatment; and
optionally allowing a sequential passage of the sewage through a plurality of stages selected from the group comprising: stage IV comprising a second sedimentation zone (105) provided with a screen (106) at its terminal end, stage V comprising a polishing zone (107), and stage VI comprising a disinfecting zone (109) confined between screen (108) and screen (110),
wherein the method is
