Abstract
One of the key steps while making a complete denture is recording maxillomandibular relations. These are broad bladed spatula that are generally heated and used. They are ideally used either laboratory side, preclinical side or clinical side to reduce the wax height or inclination. Since the time of invent they have been heated with the help of either a Bunsen burner at the laboratory front and a spirit lamp at clinical end. More recently blow torch has been introduced in the marked that has replaced the need for a spirit lamp or Bunsen burner at the clinical front. They are more user friendly with respect to traditional heating devices. Having said that one cannot deny the fact that blow torch has its own complexities like being able to correctly fill the torch with the gas is a task in itself. Apart from that to keep the refill gas in stock which again adds up to the inventory. Also, they do get damaged over repeated use. Hence there is a need for innovation of better heating devices to overcome these issues. The current innovation aims to utilize the readily available electricity or battery to heat the hot plate which in turn would save clinical space and time. This device also has a small extension to collect the melted wax thus preventing the usual mess that is created. This device is extremely user friendly, portable tidy and safe. It aims to help clinician in this tedious procedure called jaw relation and make the procedure less dreadful and smooth.

Specification
One of the key steps while making a complete denture is jaw relation also known as maxillomandibular relation. This step helps the clinician to transmit important information to the dental technician regarding patient's vertical dimension, occlusal plane, centric relation, smile line, oveijet, lip and cheek support,
visibility etc.
This step is carried out usually with the help of wax bite rims and they are generally fabricated using baseplate wax. They are primarily made of predetermined dimensions to help dentists. Base plate wax is preferred as it is easier to manipulate the length and width of the wax. These are often made larger in dimensions so that the dentist can easily reduce the rims chairside as reduction
is easier than addition of wax.
This type of cooking equipment is typically powered by electricity; however, gas fired hot plates were not uncommon in the 19th and 20th century and are still available in various markets around the world. Primarily used to heat/ keep food
warm, or heat up water.
This laboratory hot plate with magnetic stirrer is used for preparing chemicals
used in scientific research.
In laboratory settings, hot plates are generally used to heat glassware or its contents. Some hot plates also contain an integrated magnetic stirrer, allowing the heated liquid to be stirred automatically.
In a student laboratory, hot plates are used because baths can be hazards if they spill, overheat or ignite because they have high thermal inertia (meaning they take a long time to cool down) and mantles can be very expensive and are designed
for specific flask volumes.
OBJECTIVES
28: pct-2024/130613/202441082037/Form 2(Title Page)
To help reduce chair side time.
To reduce inventory.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The current innovation aims at utilizing the readily available electricity or batteries to heat the hot plate. This makes the whole heating process more convenient. There is.no need of cumbersome gas cylinders. Also, it saves clinical time and space. This instrument is very handy, portable, user friendly and safe.
This device has a stainless steel broad fan shaped blade and a wooden or plastic handle as in conventional design but along with that it has a battery operatory mechanism or electic circuit in the handle which will help to operate it. The device further has a small extension to collect the melted wax at the other end thus preventing the usual mess that is created at the work station due to the melted
wax.
This innovation would be of great help to the clinician while recording maxillomandibular relation and thus making the process a little less cumbersome.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Generally, a broad bladed hot spatula is used for this purpose which helps to reduce the overall occlusal height and the labial or buccal inclination. This same broad bladed spatula also known as hot plate is used for similar purpose at the lab. Its easy to use, convenient and helps in bulk reduction quickly when compared to using thin wax knives or carvers. Also, it helps develop uniform and even occlusal surface which is nearly impossible to achieve using wax knife or a carver. Using wax knife or carver would only add up to the chair side time and
frustration.
The hot plate is ideally made of stainless steel broad fan shaped blade with a plastic or wooden handle. This instrument has been used post heating it up over a Bunsen burner or spirit lamp over the years. More recently blow torch has been used for heating the hot plate on clinical front.
Although all these ways of heating a hot plate has been used effectively over the years there is a need for innovation as there are following difficulties the currently
available equipments.
A) The spirit lamp usually causes blackening of the wax rims due to the carbon deposits and there is always a risk of spirit lamp hazard (bursting) if caution is not taken into considerations. It is also inconvenient as one has to keep filling the lamp and change the wick. The process by itself is not very convenient as the nozzle of the lamp is too small.
Using a Bunsen burner is not quite feasible in a clinical setup as it needs a gas cylinder. It occupies clinic space, not very esthetic, there can be wax clogging and hence maintenance is needed. Also, one needs to make sure
of the cylinder supply.
C) Using a blow torch has proved to be the most convenient heating device currently but again the need to stock up the refill gas is mandatory. Along with which one has to take care of the nozzle position while refilling as if the nozzle is not correctly positioned it becomes a difficult task to fill the
torch.
Therefore, there is a need for innovation with respect to the devices that can
be used for heating a hot plate.
